Spatial cognition and navigation tasks¶
A location or orientation in space must be learned, imagined or found; path efficiency, rotation cost and spatial errors are the measures.
This family contains 3 tasks.
Mental Rotation¶
Judgment of whether two rotated objects are identical or mirror images; RT scales linearly with angular disparity, indexing mental rotation. Engages 4 processes.
Virtual Morris Water Maze¶
Navigate a virtual circular arena to find a hidden platform using distal spatial cues; latency and search patterns index allocentric spatial learning and navigation ability. Engages 5 processes.
Virtual Radial Arm Maze¶
Virtual multi-arm maze in which participants retrieve rewards from each arm once; working-memory and reference-memory errors index spatial memory. Engages 4 processes.
